I'm really looking forward to it, as we've been in a bit of a grey zone since wrapping the Indeigogo campaign. Groundwork has been laid here and there, but it's too early to start the actual construction. Here's where we stand right now;
First, we managed to get a feasible budget plan together, courtesy of 1st A.D Brad Jones. He even found a way for us to have an RV on location so we'll have access to a bathroom, electricity, and a secluded spot to do the make up in, as well as an opportunity for me to continually recreate my favorite scene from 'Airplane'.
And although we can't apply for the shooting permit until we have solid shooting dates,(and we can't do that until the film is cast) we've discovered that the city of Riverside will be perfect for our shoot, both visually and financially! I've been in contact with the City Of Riverside's Permit manager, and will be locking all that down over the next month or so.
I've also been able to do a final pass at the script, and revise the storyboards to match any changes I made.
In addition to guiding us through our initial location scout of Riverside, producer Joel O'Neal also sent me this video of a secluded dirt road that he shot on his own, which could be perfect for a very important sequence in the film. As we'll be taking another trip out there in January, I'll be getting a closer look at it then. Check out the video below, and try to imagine a dirty white cargo van parked there.

Lastly, Jason Miller, my longtime composer buddy, is working on a mock up of the score so we'll have something to play on set for mood. He'll be creating something that sounds like a really bad Strauss March - something that can be either comic or menacing.
I hope everyone out there has a great new year, and wish us luck as we start to take your generous donations and make 'The Ride' a reality next year!!
Cheers!
Waylon
