While I've been busy gearing up for The Ride's upcoming Indie go go campaign, I've also been sweating out another Beatdom cover.
As a kid who grew up in that liberal bubble known as Berkeley, when I heard the theme was 'War', I got really excited. There's so much to say on the subject. Most of it bad. I had the idea roughly ten minutes after getting the assignment; a terrified soldier in a field littered with the corpses of other soldiers, from (almost) all the wars the United States has engaged in. It was tempting to be more broad, and include dead soldiers from the other sides - Vietnamese, Japanese, Afghanistan, etc. But there's only so much space and time.
Regardless, I'm really pleased with how this one came out; it's filled with tons of tiny details, savagely political, and incredibly violent. The new issue isn't out yet, but Beatdom has begun to post the cover on its facebook, twitter, tumbler, and main site.. Take a look, and keep checking in to see when Beatdom 15: The War Issue launches!
